The Greater Horizon Training Institute's president announced the addition of a new healthcare program, Certified Pharmacy Technician. At an education seminar in Detroit, the president stressed the importance of having qualified and certified pharmacy technicians in the new economy. "As healthcare reform changes the way we manage healthcare, employees need to be better equipped to handle the new challenges," she stated.

Some pharmacy technicians have only on-the-job training, but most employers favor those who have completed a formal training and certification process. The largest national certification exams in the United States are given by the National HealthCareer Association(NHA) and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Greater Horizon Training Institute prepares the candidate for this examination.
